Brightside for Families and Children

In 1873, the Sisters of Providence accepted their first orphan and in 1881 they established Brightside for Families and Children, as an orphanage.  It has been a healing and transforming presence in the lives of the youth and families in Western Massachusetts ever since. This is done through individualized services that incorporate the needs, education, and desires of every child and family supported by Brightside. The guiding philosophy is based on the belief that people realize their fullest potential through relationships. Brightside demonstrates the spirit of caring on a daily basis through family outreach and stabilization, psychiatric and medication evaluation and management, special education, and by being there to offer support and encouragement.
